Important Baggage Information in the United States
Please be aware that US
Federal law requires that ALL bags be screened at the airport before
being placed on any airplane. Here's some helpful hints from
TSA for packing your bags:
Checked Bags:
Don't pack food and beverages inside checked bags.
Spread any books out inside a suitcase rather than stacking them.
Pack footwear on top of other items.
Don't cram too many items into a suitcase. It will be hard for a screener to close it should the need arise to open your bag.
Avoid packing anything you would be embarrassed for other people to see, as your bag may be opened in a public place.
Leave bag unlocked so screeners do not have to break into them.
Put personal items, like underwear and toiletries, in a zip-lock plastic bag so screeners do not have to handle them.
Don't wrap gifts. They may have to be opened for inspection.
If something is missing or damaged, call the TSA customer response center at 866-289-9673.
VERY IMPORTANT: Screening equipment for checked baggage WILL damage film. Be sure to place any film in your carry-on bags.
Check your your key ring, handbags and carry-on bags for any pocket knives, box cutters, promotional screwdrivers, or any sharp objects received as a gift or otherwise. These items will be taken away from you when you go through the baggage check area. You will also be slowed down by any metal design on your shoes or belt(s).
It is important to double check your carry on items and what you plan on wearing the day of travel. This can save you time and the inconvenience of having to be double checked by screening personnel.
